Living Life with Mindfulness



Louise is a true inspiration to any woman in the corporate world. After having climbed the ladder very successfully and holding key positions within UBS, Dresner she left the city in 2001 to set up her own consultancy practice offering financial and strategic advice incorporating mindfulness. Today she has an award winning holistic retreat called Witherdens Hall and is the Co-founder of Mindfulness at Work.

During the show Louise reminded us that mindfulness is about awareness. Allowing yourself to become more aware of what you are thinking and doing, what is going in your mind and body. Giving yourself permission to just be with your experience and avoid being on auto-pilot.

It can help us respond to life’s pressures and stress in a calmer manner that benefits our mind, body and spirit. It helps us recognise and step away from our usual, often unconscious emotional and physiological reactions to everyday events.

Mindfulness practice now has an abundance of neuroscience research to support that it helps our brains be more integrated, so your everyday activities, thoughts, attitudes and perceptions are much more balanced. Practicing mindfulness gives us more clarity, insight and understanding and allows us to be fully present in our life and work, and improve our quality of life.

Her quick Tips on being mindful are:

  • Make it a daily practice
  • Practise listening without making judgements
  • Spend time in nature
  • Take some time to simply be
  • Tune into your senses
  • Doing less, less becomes more
  • Focus on the present – stop worrying
  • Be present when talking to someone
  • Eat slowly and savour the food
  • Accept people and life as they are
  • Let go of expectations
  • Be compassionate
